EVENT CANCELLED- SCGC Corona Virus Statement

We hope you are all keeping safe and well in these trying times.

Unfortunately we have some bad news, Swansea Council have informed us that our booking for May 2021 is going to be cancelled, as it’s extremely unlikely that they’ll be able to host the event..

This is something that is beyond our control, but as things currently stand it does look like the safest course of action, all things considered, as the safety of everyone in attendance is our first priority.

We would like to thank everyone for their continued support through all of these postponements.

We are determined to come back once we are able, but we have not set a new date yet, as the situation is still too unpredictable. We expect that it won’t be until mid-2022 at the earliest.

In the meantime we will be making the most of our online presence on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Twitch to showcase what the SCGC community has to offer.

We are planning to hold another virtual SCGC on May 1st 2021, and will publish details of the event a little nearer to the time. We’re talking to guests and vendors at the moment to work out how we can improve on last year’s virtual event.

We know that this isn’t the news that anyone wants to hear but hopefully we can make a positive from the bad situation get through this Pandemic and back to conventions next year.

If you had bought a ticket for SCGC 2020, and had not yet asked for a refund, then you can either get in touch by emailing info@scgc.org.uk from the same email address that you bought the ticket through on Paypal, or you can keep your ticket for our next physical event (whenever that is)… it’ll still be valid.

Whilst we have been bit quiet in regards to SCGC2020 updates during lockdown, we have been busy behind the scenes trying to put plans in place in relation to ongoing government advice. as the pandemic has gone on every contingency we have considered has become obsolete in the face of the government advice, so it is with great sadness that we have decided to cancel SCGC2020.

The current advice will see tourist attractions potentially reopening but with social distancing measures in place in July. As social distancing measures are likely to be still in place at the start of August there would be no way for us to safely get exhibitors and attendees into the venue, and the safety of our attendees, exhibitors, and volunteers must come first.

We understand that this is disappointing news but we will be back in 2021. We are offering a full refund on tables or you can roll these over to 2021 that is completely your choice just drop an email to us at info@scgc.org.uk . In the meantime we are in the process of putting together a virtual convention to take place on Saturday 8th of August.

This virtual event will try to replicate the convention experience to the best of our abilities, including; Guest Panels, a Cosplay Competition, a Miniature Painting Competition, and more to be announced in the coming weeks.

In the meantime stay safe and we look forward to seeing you all in person in 2021.

Corona Virus Update!

Yesterday we had to break the unfortunate news that we were postponing SCGC2020. it was a hard decision to make especially this close to the convention, but due to the guidance from the government it was not feasible to run the event. The aim of Swansea Comic and Gaming Convention is to provide the community with a safe and fun geeky day out, but in the current climate we couldn’t guarantee the safety of our attendees, traders, guests and our volunteers and the safety of everyone attending the convention must come first.

Today we have a some better news, after speaking to the venue we have been able to secure an alternative date. We are happy to announce that SCGC will now take place at the Brangwyn Hall Swansea on Saturday the 8th of August. So mark your Diary’s and join us for a day at our new summer date a stones throw from the beach!

As we said yesterday tickets will remain valid for the rescheduled event, and trader bookings will automatically be transferred to the new date.

If this new date means that you won’t be able to attend the rescheduled event because of a clash or prior engagement, then we’ll happily offer you a refund whether you’re a vendor or a ticket holder.


Monday 16th March 2020

We are taking the step of postponing the convention, in light of the Government’s advice today advising that everyone should avoid gatherings and crowded places, such as pubs, clubs and theatres during the current Corona Virus situation.

We’ll be meeting with the venue on Thursday this week (we had a meeting scheduled to discuss event logistics in any case), and will find out what dates they have available for us to reschedule to, far enough down the line for the worst of the current situation to have passed.

Once we have confirmed the new date, we will then be able to let all of our guests, vendors and customers know the new arrangements. Tickets will remain valid for the rescheduled event, and trader bookings will automatically be transferred to the new date.

If the new date means that you won’t be able to attend the rescheduled event because of a clash or prior engagement, then we’ll happily offer you a refund whether you’re a vendor or a ticket holder. We kindly ask that you wait until after we have announced the revised date before you contact us should you require a refund.

We apologise for having to take this step, but we feel that it is better to be safe rather than sorry.
