  1. I think supporting our fellow fury humans in the ape and monkey sanctuary this time would be good hehe monkeys

  2. Vote for Wales Ape and Monkey Sanctuary !

The work they do is incredible. They rely heavily on the public for donations as they do not receive any government help or funding.

  3. All great causes but the ape and monkey sanctuary is my choice just because of how far they go to rescue these amazing animals x

  4. Such a hard decision as all amazing charities but recently visited Wales Ape and Monkey Sanctuary and the work they do for these poor animals who’ve has such awful starts is so heartwarming

  5. Supporting WAMS as they do such selfless, amazing work for so many abused and neglected creatures, here and abroad. Have watched the sanctuary grow from a little family holding to what it is today. They deserve all the help we can possibly give them .

  6. They do such fabulous rescue work for these amazing animals. They then take care of them with love and they live a much happier life with people who care.

  7. Wales ape and monkey sanctuary is a fantastic and worthy place that deserves more recognition

  8. Was a hard decision but the work they put into helping these animals from far away places is incredibly

  9. Come on wales Ape and Monkey Sanctuary!
Tireless unending rescue work carried out by the most dedicated people !
No outside funding relying 100% on public support 👏

  10. They deserve to win giving all the primates a happy life they deserve after the life’s they have had

  11. The sanctuary does amazing work on behalf of many neglected and needy primates. Also rescuing and taking care of other needy creatures, dogs, meerkats, even ponies and pigs. Etc. etc.

  12. Got to be the monkey sanctuary without this place none of these monkeys and animals would be alive now brilliant work they all do .

  13. The sanctuary for the apes does a sterling job and should be recognized for this

  14. Matt’s House is a great place for the community to join together for support. Anyone walking around Swansea can see what a huge need Matt’s cafe meets. Imagine sleeping on the street and being able to get a hot meal a shower and a chance to be with people who care. Priceless. Vote vote vote!

  15. Lots of great charities here but the stand out winner in my eyes is Matts Cafe – it’s changing lives in so many ways and is a vital resource for the city’s most vulnerable and needy.

  16. Matthews house does amazing work and is a fantastic place for people of all ages and stages of life… I hope they win

  17. Love this idea! Great to see charities being supported! I love for Matthew’s House so my vote heads there! Well done to the comic and gaming convention 🙌🏻😊

  18. I’ve seen the wonderful work done and results at the Ape sanctuary.
I feel that this charity deserves support.

  19. All a lovely idea, personally involved with a Matts House/ has an expression of Matts academic where they are sustainable in turning food that would otherwise be wasted, into delicious and nutritious meals for the homeless. They have a shower for the homeless and also the Homeless Period , they provide basic hygiene products to vulnerable adults. Amazing initiative, making a different to the city and it’s residents.

  21. They are all really worthy charities. But I’ve gone with Matts House as they support the homeless and vulnerable. The monkeys will always be fed. Homeless people may not. 🙁

  22. I voted for WAMS only, but when the vote registered it looked like l’d voted for the charity below it as well.
Best of luck to WAMS 🍀

  23. Wams all the way. Only visited once but was blown away by the love and warmth of the place

  24. The welsh ape and monkey sanctuary need your support they do a marvellous job rescuing animals from all over the world to give them a forever home.

  25. WAMS gets my vote, recently back from yet another rescue where animals are in need & these people travel wherever it’s necessary for these animals to come and live their lives with the dignity they deserve. 100% non profit organisation relying on money through admission fees as there is no grants or funding in Powys. All the best.

  26. Matthews House – hope and hospitality in the heart of our city. A much needed home for those in need whether it’s a hot meal or a hot shower. Swansea volunteers serving those in need, bringing dignity and hope. They’ve got my vote!!

  27. Is it just the ape/monkey ZOO that are encouraging people to vote more than once? not very charitable at all in my opinion

  28. We have disabled the option for users to vote more than once, so it may be that you (or someone who shares your IP address) has already voted

    Cheers

    Simon

  29. We have fixed the error that was allowing people to vote multiple times, and we will be adjusting the final results to remove all duplicate votes (as we can see which ones they were from the back end).

It’s understandable that people would want to vote multiple times for any of the great charities here, and understandable that charities would galvanise their supporters to vote often to ensure they receive vital funds. More than one charity received multiple votes, so it was not the case that any one specific charity was at fault.

We should have been more careful when initially setting up the poll to ensure that it was not possible to exploit the system, and we have subsequently corrected the bug that allowed multiple votes.

    Regards

    Simon

  30. Thank you for disabling the multiple votes. I think that votes from overseas IP addresses should also be discounted, if there appears to one particular charity benefiting from this.

  31. Hi Enid,

Given the amount of work that it’s already going to take to remove the multiple votes for the two charities that benefited from the error in settings, and the massive range of possible IP addresses for each country, it is unlikely that we’ll have the resources available to check that each IP address comes from the UK.

We think it’s pretty unlikely that charities are going to be buying in proxy votes from abroad in any case.

Thank you for your concern though.

  32. Last time the voting was taking place you could see how many votes each charity had. Is there any reason that’s not the case now?

  33. Hi Peter,

Because of an issue with the poll which allowed multiple voting in the early stages, we made the decision to turn off the totals (as they were misleading).

We’ll be filtering out all of the duplicate votes before announcing the results later this week
